Linked Open Data based App for Tokyo Olympic Games

License : CC0
We propose a Tokyo 2020 mobile app based on Linked Open Data (LOD). LOD facilitates data integration on the Web. Our app would offer a unique entry point to query and traverse multiple connected data entities that are related to the Olympic Games. London 2012 was considered the first data Olympics. We would like to make Tokyo 2020, with the permission of Rio, in the first LOD Olympics.

The scenarios focus on the reuse of linked open data across several domains in both anticipated and unanticipated ways. - Emma, a UK citizen, is an architect; she just arrived to Tokyo, and plans to get the most out of the Olympic Games. Emma likes football and is interested in UK athletes. Emma already has the tickets for the Opening Ceremony at the Olympic Stadium. She uses our app to discover that one of her favourite architects, Kenzō Tange , was the designer of the former Stadium. She discovers more information about him thanks to our app. The day after the opening ceremony Emma does not have tickets for any event; however, she would like to go to a pub to watch the England football match. She relies on the app to get the nearest pubs, close to her location, which will broadcast the game . Moreover, the app provides the information about how to reach the selected pub from her location, and the pub speciality on food and drinks. Once she is in the pub, she uses the app to get more information about her favourites players, e.g., Wayne Rooney . At the end of the game she was a bit sad because Japan beat England. - Bo, a Chinese citizen, is an IT guy working for Fujitsu. He plans to visit Kobe , but he will spend two days in Tokyo. He is not that into sports, but he would like to visit the Olympic Village to try to get an autograph of some Chinese famous athlete. Bo uses the app to get information on how to get to the Olympic Village, and on the Chinese famous athletes available there. Once he is there, he is able to get an autograph from Wang Yuan . The next day, Bo wants to do some sightseeing. He relies on the app to get the touristic places to visit in Tokyo , and how to get to them from his location. Finally he decides to visit the Imperial Palace . He is very happy with the two day visit in Tokyo, now he is ready to work in Kobe.
